2016 Ford Explorer Review

2016 Ford Explorer Review

The Ford Explorer gets a significant refresh, with smoother bodywork, an improved feature set, quieter interiors, and a stronger, more widely available 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder joining the lineup. For 2016, the Explorer gets its most significant update since 2011, but it’s not a complete redesign. The changes include new front and rear styling, a new top-spec trim level, and some new equipment. Mechanically, its most significant change is the arrival of a new EcoBoost four-cylinder engine.

In this year's Explorer, Ford has carried over the side sheet metal, but has changed just about everything else. With new front and rear styling, the Explorer has a more ‘finished’ and finely detailed look than ever before. It appears that there’s been an effort to visually lift the front end, with a higher, more defined mesh grille, while a chunky LED lighting arrays provide accents and the headlights have their own small radiator grilles. In back there’s a new sculpted spoiler and integrated exhaust tips, while the rear pillars are reshaped. Inside it does its best impression of a Taurus sedan in look and feel, albeit a little more upright.

·        PRICE AS TESTED: $53,575 (base price: $44,445)

2016 Honda Ridgeline Review

2016 Honda Ridgeline Review

The new 2016 Honda Ridgeline Diesel will be receiving a complete overhaul for an all-new truck design. In addition to the stylish chrome trim, the new truck is expected to come with a sparkling new rectangular grill. Though not confirmed yet, the car’s headlights will be integrating LED technology, thus reducing the strain on battery life.

Honda has also made it clear that the new 2016 Ridgeline will be featuring a sleeker, more rounded look, perfectly integrated with a longer roof. In brief, Honda is focusing on designing a truck that is not only beautiful, but beastly as well. That said; don’t let its exquisite structure fool you into believing the truck can’t actually cruise through bumpiest terrain imaginable.

2016 Toyota Tacoma review

2016 Toyota Tacoma review

Ever since Toyota's little truck was actually little, it has earned a strong reputation for rock-solid reliability and tough, capable off - road performance. When it became the Tacoma, that reputation and the size of the truck grew. The 2016 Toyota Tacoma has a fantastic resale value, earning the top spot in Kelley Blue Book's Best Resale Value Awards. It dominates sales in its segment the current generation of Toyota's midsize pickup makes up about half of all midsize pickup sales. But as new competition comes to the segment, and the Tacoma continued to age, it was time for an upgrade. And it got a big one for 2016.

The Tacoma already had a solid foundation. Its frame is tough enough to handle fairly serious off-roading, and the truck manages to have a nice balance of being easy to park yet offering enough room to carry five passengers and gear. Toyota retained the same frame design, using more high-strength steel, a move that reduced weight while increasing rigidity. The wheelbase is the same, but the truck is longer and wider. Toyota took advantage of the new dimensions to improve interior packaging, increasing leg-, shoulder and hip room in the Access and Double Cabs.

2016 Porsche Cayenne Review

2016 Porsche Cayenne Review

After a brief hiatus, the base, GTS and Turbo S models return for 2016. Output is unchanged from 2014 in the base engine, but the GTS and Turbo S versions are both more powerful than on their last outings. The 2016 Porsche Cayenne is both sporty and indulgent, and its comprehensive lineup includes a diesel-powered model, a plug-in hybrid and a turbocharged V8. It might be the best all-around crossover on the market.

Four available engines in a single vehicle would be enough diversity for most automakers. But Porsche isn't like most automakers. In addition to last year's diesel, turbocharged V6, hybrid and turbo V8, the 2016 Porsche Cayenne gains a base V6, sporty GTS and the full-bore Turbo S. Power output ranges from 240 to 570 horses, with combined fuel economy on the spectrum of 23 mpg to who cares, as long as the tank isn't empty Burger King may have invented the "Have it your way" slogan, but Porsche could easily adopt it for its Cayenne crossover SUV.

2016 Nissan GT-R Review

2016 Nissan GT-R Review

The 2016 GT-R develops an additional 5 horsepower in non-Nismo versions thanks to electronic refinements. In Premium trim, 20-spoke wheels replace the previous 10-spoke design. A 45th Anniversary Gold Edition is added to the lineup to celebrate 45 years of worldwide GT-R production. The Track Edition version has been dropped. The 2016 Nissan GT-R is getting a bit up in years, and it shows up in the car's lower levels of refinement. But the car's Olympian powertrain and easy-to-drive nature still hold plenty of appeal.
